Kreedo methodology children learn by doing activity so for that activity lab equipped by Teaching learning method. Kreedo Curriculum focuses on play- based learning at its at its core with 250+ scientifically designed materials and where children are grouped together , exchange knowledge , figure out a solution for a problem, and complete an activity. Kreedo lab is referred to as the prepared environment where every learning material has purpose and place.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community Service is a great, effective way to help one’s community. There are all sorts of opportunities and ways to serve. We at JSVM Varthur believe in serving and giving our time towards community services. In an attempt to enable our students to render their services to the community, they take something away from the experience and are able to use any new found knowledge through community service. We firmly believe that an element of learning, balanced with the serving aspect is of utmost importance. It can improve the community and surroundings and learn life lessons to build character in ways that will help our students to further impact the world in the future.

CAFETERIA

The school provides meals which are planned by nutritionists and prepared by experienced chefs. The cafeteria starts in the morning, serving breakfast to all the children, teachers and administrative staff. The cafeteria premises are cleaned round the clock and maintained to the highest hygienic standards. To supervise students during lunchtime, a teacher is appointed for monitoring each table. Children are trained to keep themselves clean and display correct dining manners.

SPORTING FACILITIES

“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body”. Keeping this in mind the school promotes and encourages a number of sports activities. In addition to the two periods a week compulsory allotted to physical education. The sports activities available include yoga, cricket, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball. Professional swimming and athletic coaches are available to train the students and ensure that they become ace performers.

LIBRARY – Learning Resource Center

The library is a spring of open minds. At JSVM Varthur it’s dynamic - equipped with books, magazines and CDs covering a wide range of subjects across thousand book titles.

The books are classified, labeled and catalogued to help the child find the books easily. The students are encouraged to make good use of the library where the reading hall provides a conclusive atmosphere for reading, for reference study and reflection. The students are acquainted with its layout and the regulations governing its use to facilitate reading, studying and research. The students are issued library cards and are trained to use them to access the books. They need to borrow and also to return them before the stipulated date. This inculcates a sense of responsibility not only with regards to returning the books in time but also to treat the books with care.

RITS- Renovative Information Technology Lab

The school believes in keeping pace with the advancement of technology and so has provided computer laboratories, which cater to each student who has an individual computer to work on. We have a strong team of professionals from the field of computers to guide the students with the latest changes in this field.

LAB FACILITIES (PCMB)

Learning by doing is the most effective way of learning. The school provides the most modern labs. Theory is incomplete without practical. One needs to completely get involved in the various practical experiments whether it is Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Physics to get a thorough knowledge and understanding of what had been taught in the theory class.

Labs are neatly arranged with a view to a fresh approach. When a student walks in, the lab assistant and the teacher both assist him / her in understanding and undertaking experiments.

VIRTUAL CLASS ROOM

The audio-visual room is extensively used by the faculty and the students to make presentations and conduct workshops. A research oriented approach is encouraged and frequent analysis of projects help students to orient themselves with the rapidly changing requirements of the world outside.

COUNSELLOR’S INTERACTION

Counseling is a way of helping people find ways of dealing more effectively with their problems. Counselling is done by skilled, trained, caring counsellors.

The school’s counseling service is open to every member of the JSVM Varthur family. The centre counsels students with learning disabilities, hyperactive behavioural problems etc., and right from nursery to secondary school. The students are mentored through discussion, in a safe place with confidence, with someone trustworthy, worries are shared with qualified counsellors. Qualified and experienced teachers also act as counsellors and provide assistance or intervention for children with respect to learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties observed in the school. Help is offered in terms of counseling and guiding students and parents. The capability and the outreach of the counselors in the school are limited to an initial assessment of the issue.

SICKBAY - HEALTH CARE CENTRE

The student will be medically examined at the time of admission and thereafter regularly by a qualified doctor. No medically or physically unfit boy/girl will be allowed for admission.

The school has a Health Care Centre to take care of emergency. However, students who suffer from any specific ailment should carry their medicine with them and inform the class teacher /nurse about it. We prefer to have your family doctor’s name and telephone numbers to contact them in case of any emergency

The school retains an experienced and well qualified nurse who is on call 24 hours a day. The infirmary at JSVM Varthur is well equipped with all necessary first aid and primary medical care equipment. In the case of more serious ailments the nurse immediately informs the parents / guardians. The students are treated in consultation with the parents with regard to food, drugs, diets etc. the school has its own Ambulance service available 24x7. Girls/Boys who always complain about sickness and bring medical certificate for exemption from daily routine training will be debarred to attend the classes from the next session.

FIELD TRIPS

Field trips are an important part of the student’s experience. Special visits are arranged from time to time to places connected with the work the children are doing in school. Visits usually take place in school hours. One requirement of enrolment at JSVM Varthur is that parents must sign a permission slip at the time of field trip.

PARENTS' WORKSHOP

Education is only complete when there is a full involvement of the teacher, the student along with their parents. We at JSVM Varthur believe in working in collaboration with our parent fraternity. As a policy, we do conduct parent orientation, workshop and Parent Teacher Interaction in regular and scheduled days. So in order to orient parents about the upcoming curriculum and keep them involved in the education of the child, periodic workshops are held. The interaction between parents and teachers brings about clarity of the progress of academics in class and also enables parents to monitor their child’s work regularly.

LAUNDRY

All boarders are expected to hand in their laundry weekly three times on fixed days; it would be washed / ironed and returned the following laundry day. For easy identification of clothes it is preferred that all students mark their names with a waterproof marker.

TRANSPORT

The school offers transport facilities for the semi residential (Day boarding) students. The school owns buses that fulfill the transport facilities for the students with responsible lady caretakers. Our transport fleet consists of GPS facility. They traverse the geography of the city to pick up our students. Special care is taken while appointing the drivers and care takers, to ensure that only the experienced and qualified drivers are appointed after undergoing a driving test. The buses are equipped with safety equipment and a first-aid kit in case of an emergency.
